🗣 Lost in Translation? Let’s Make Language Stick
From ancient migrations to made-up words, here’s how language grew—and why it keeps changing.

“My kid learns differently — traditional curriculum doesn’t work for us.”
When we started foreign language this year, we let the kids choose their path. Duolingo was fun… at first.
But halfway through the semester, it felt like they were coasting — tapping through lessons with no real spark, and definitely skipping the speaking practice.
We wanted more. They needed more.
So instead of starting over, we asked: How can we deepen what we're already doing?
We started with a quick strategy session — part reflection, part planning, part ChatGPT assist — and together found ways to make language learning more relevant:
- A short speech in their target language, followed by live Q&A
- A photo story or greeting card project — blending language + photography
- Daily journal entries using just 2–3 sentences in context
- Role-play, debates, and AI translation buddies for practice
Here’s the big shift:
We didn’t try to “fix” how they learn. We flexed our approach to fit them.
This week, we’re diving into Language.

"Language is the roadmap of a culture." – Rita Mae Brown
This week reminded us that language is more than grammar—it’s connection. Whether spoken, signed, or invented, every word holds a story.
🗣️ Until next time, keep listening, creating, and letting language grow with you.
